Cookie Policy

Last updated: 23 March 2026

This policy explains what cookies and browser storage SATs Arcade uses, what we use them for, and how you can control them. We comply with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to website owners.

SATs Arcade primarily uses browser local storage rather than traditional cookies. Local storage works similarly — data is stored in your browser — but it is not automatically sent to our server with every request, making it more efficient for an app like ours.

2. What We Use and Why

We categorise our use of browser storage into three types:

Strictly Necessary

Cannot be disabled

These are essential for the service to function. Without them you cannot log in or use the app.

Key / NamePurposeTypeExpires
sats-arcade-auth-tokenKeeps you logged in between sessionsLocal storageOn logout / 30 days
sats-arcade-parent-pin-*Remembers that a parent has entered their PIN in the current browser session, so they don't have to re-enter it on every pageSession storageWhen browser tab closes
sats-arcade-cookie-consentRecords that you have acknowledged our cookie bannerLocal storageIndefinitely (until cleared)

Functional (Preferences)

Required for core functionality

These remember your preferences to give you a better experience. Disabling them means your settings won't be saved between sessions.

Analytics & Attribution

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and PostHog to understand how visitors use SATs Arcade — for example, which pages are popular and where users encounter problems. Both services may set cookies or use browser storage to distinguish unique visitors. Data is used solely to improve the product and is not sold to third parties.

This data is stored in our database against your account — not as a cookie — and is used to understand which marketing channels are effective. It is not shared with third parties.

We do not use Meta Pixel or any advertising tracking scripts.

3. Third-Party Cookies

The following third-party services may set cookies when you use SATs Arcade:

We do not use any third-party advertising or retargeting cookies.

4. How to Control Cookies & Local Storage

You can control and/or delete local storage data at any time through your browser settings. Here's how in common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → Cached images and files / Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data

Please note: Clearing browser storage for SATs Arcade will log you out and reset your local preferences (dark mode, font settings, etc.). Your account data and progress are stored on our servers and will not be affected.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new features or third-party services that involve new storage use. We will update the "last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
