How the times table speed test works
Your child picks the tables to practise, then answers 20 mixed questions in 60 seconds. Right answers flash green and move straight on; a slip shows the correct answer for a moment so it sticks. They finish with a score out of 20 and a list of the exact facts that caught them out — so the test doubles as a quick gap-finder before SATs revision.
What counts as a good score?
By the end of Year 4, children are expected to know every times table up to 12 × 12, so a Year 5 or Year 6 child should be aiming for 18 or more with time to spare. Younger children should stick to the tables they have covered at school — full marks on three tables beats a scramble through all eleven. Whatever the score, the tables in the practice list at the end are the ones to work on next.
Getting ready for the Multiplication Tables Check?
