What subjects are tested in Year 6 SATs?
Year 6 SATs cover three subjects across five papers: Maths (Arithmetic, and Reasoning Papers 2 and 3), Reading (one paper), and Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling (a grammar and punctuation paper and a spelling paper). SATs Academy teaches all five, in over 300 voiced lessons across 51 topics.
Can my child work independently, or do I need to supervise?
They can work on their own. The lesson does the explaining, step by step, with captions on, and their SATs Academy page names the next lesson, so there's nothing to plan. Many parents sit beside them. You don't need to know the method yourself, and your dashboard keeps their mock history and the mock score trend.
How is this different from free resources like BBC Bitesize?
Free resources are a good starting point. SATs Academy adds a structured route through all five papers: a voiced lesson for every topic at three levels, practice on just that topic, a short test for every level, and 71 full mock papers with written feedback.
My child already spends too much time on screens. How much time does this take?
It depends on when you start. For a Year 6 child, the weekly plan spreads the lessons still to watch evenly over the weeks left until SATs week, so the sooner you start, the fewer lessons each week. Each lesson opens with a few minutes of explanation, then untimed practice.
Are mock tests available for every subject?
Yes. There are 71 full mock papers across all five papers: 12 Arithmetic, 23 Reasoning, 12 Grammar, 12 Spelling and 12 Reading. Each has the real timings and mark totals: Arithmetic 30 minutes, each Reasoning paper 40 minutes, Grammar and punctuation 45 minutes and Reading 60 minutes. Spelling is 20 words read aloud.
