The MTC simulator that feels exactly like the real test
25 questions. 6 seconds each. Built to match the statutory Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check that every Y4 child takes in early June.
Anonymous attempts are not stored against a profile. Sign up to track scores, see weakness by table, and unlock all of Year 4 maths.
The same shape as the real test
Five things every parent says after their child’s first run.
The same answer window the real MTC uses. Builds genuine recall speed, not just accuracy.
6×, 7×, 8×, 9× and 12× appear more often — the tables the statutory framework focuses on.
After every session, see exactly which tables to drill next. No more guessing.
10-second window for children with EHCPs or access arrangements — same provision STA allows on the day.
Rolling average of your last 5 sessions. Track readiness all the way to June.
No surnames, no photos, no public scores. Children's-data compliant by design.
What is the MTC?
The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a statutory test taken by every Year 4 child in state-funded schools in England. It happens in a two-week window in early June.
Each pupil answers 25 multiplication questions on a tablet or computer. Each question is multiplication facts from the 2× to the 12× tables. They have 6 seconds to answer each question, with 3 seconds of rest in between. The whole thing takes less than 5 minutes.
There is no “pass mark” published by the Department for Education — but headteachers and Year 4 teachers commonly treat 20/25 as the rough threshold for being “MTC ready”. Most children comfortably score 22+ after a few weeks of regular practice.
One run takes 5 minutes. No card, no email.
