Free KS2 SATs Practice Papers Online

Everything your child needs to prepare for their Year 6 SATs — online, instant, and free to try. No printing, no marking by hand, no waiting. Just real practice with real feedback.

What Are KS2 SATs Papers?

Key Stage 2 SATs (Standard Assessment Tests) are national tests taken by children in Year 6 across England, usually in May. They assess how well your child has grasped the primary curriculum in maths, reading, and grammar, punctuation & spelling (GPS).

The tests consist of six papers in total: one arithmetic paper, two maths reasoning papers, one reading paper, one GPS paper, and a spelling test. Each paper is timed and externally marked. Results are reported as scaled scores, where 100 is the expected standard set by the Department for Education.

Practising with papers that match the real format is one of the most effective ways to prepare. It builds familiarity with question types, improves time management, and reduces anxiety on the day itself.

The Four SATs Papers

Why Online Practice Beats Printed PDFs

Printed past papers have their place, but they come with limitations. You have to print them, your child writes their answers on paper, and then you (or they) must mark every question manually using the mark scheme. If they get something wrong, there’s no explanation — just a red cross.

SATs Arcade takes a different approach. Every question is marked instantly. When your child gets an answer wrong, they see a clear, step-by-step explanation of the correct method. Over time, the system tracks which topics they’re strong on and which need more work, so practice time is always focused where it matters most.

  • Instant feedback — no waiting for a parent to mark the paper
  • Worked solutions — every wrong answer comes with a full explanation
  • Adaptive difficulty — questions get harder or easier based on how your child is doing
  • Progress tracking — see mastery levels across every topic at a glance
  • No printing — works on any device, anywhere, any time
  • Gamified rewards — XP, streaks, achievements, and a coin shop keep children motivated

The result? Children actually want to practise. And practice that happens regularly beats a single past paper crammed in the week before the test.

How SATs Arcade Works

SATs Arcade offers 10,200+ questions across all four SATs subjects. Each question is tagged by topic, difficulty level, and paper type, so your child can focus on exactly what they need.

There are several ways to practise:

  • Quick Practice — jump straight into a set of questions on any subject or topic
  • Mock Tests — full-length, timed papers that mirror the real exam experience
  • Mini Mocks — shorter timed sessions (10–15 minutes) for quick revision
  • Topic Focus — drill down on specific areas like fractions, inference, or punctuation

Everything is designed to feel like a game rather than a test. Children earn XP, unlock achievements, build streaks, and compete on leaderboards. The learning happens almost without them noticing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these real SATs papers?

Our questions are written to match the style, difficulty, and curriculum coverage of official KS2 SATs papers. They are not reproductions of past papers, but they cover the same topics and question types so your child gets realistic practice.

How many questions can I try for free?

You can try 5 free questions across all subjects without creating an account. After registering a free account, you unlock additional practice sessions. A full subscription gives you access to 10,200+ questions.

Do I need to print anything?

No. All practice is done online with instant marking and feedback. There is nothing to print, download, or mark by hand.

What subjects are covered?

SATs Arcade covers all four KS2 SATs papers: Maths Arithmetic (Paper 1), Maths Reasoning (Papers 2 & 3), Reading, and Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling.

How is online practice different from PDF papers?

Online practice gives you instant marking, worked solutions when your child gets a question wrong, adaptive difficulty that adjusts to their level, and progress tracking across sessions. PDF papers require manual marking and offer no feedback.

Is SATs Arcade suitable for all Year 6 children?

Yes. Questions come in three difficulty levels. The adaptive system starts at an appropriate level and adjusts based on how your child answers, so it works for children who are catching up as well as those aiming for greater depth.

Can I use SATs Arcade on a tablet or phone?

Absolutely. SATs Arcade is a responsive web app that works on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. It can also be installed as an app on most devices.

When should my child start practising for SATs?

Most schools begin focused SATs preparation in January of Year 6, but gentle practice from September onwards helps build confidence. Little and often — 10 to 15 minutes a day — is far more effective than long weekend sessions.
